From early access to full release, we maintained our very own Baldur's Gate 3 compendium about what to expect from the revivified RPG. If you had questions about Baldur's Gate 3 classes, characters, and mechanics, we've got all our collected answers below, so that nothing would hold back any new adventurers—aside from the hordes of cultists, at least. Here's everything we knew about Baldur's Gate 3 before launch.

is out and has won the 2023 game of the year award, along with several others like Best Performance and Best RPG, many are wondering what’s next for Larian Studios, the developers of BG3.

Baldur's Gate 3 isn't just one of the best portrayals Faerun has ever had—it's good enough to set a new standard for RPG's as a whole. Of course, even new genre standards have some hiccups: We've seen some Baldur's Gate 3 hotfix issues as Larian sorts out post-release bugs.

Navigating the Baldur's Gate 3 Dank Crypt is tricky business. The trap you'll find down there is something fresh out of Saw, with the room filling with a mystery black grease as all the doors fuse shut.

It's downright astounding how much voice acting Larian has crammed into these streets, and how good nearly all of it is. There are dozens of random gossipers on street corners who are just as enthusiastically and professionally portrayed as the main cast, and rarely sound too similar to each other. I assume many of the actors involved must be responsible for more than one of these bit parts, but I can't tell just by listening like I can in some areas of Skyrim.

But it is a landmark moment in the genre, and if I had to point to one paragon that I would like everyone else making these to take inspiration from, this is absolutely it. I waited 14 years for the stars to align again so that we could get the ideal mix of crunchy, tactical, old-school RPG combat, an epic and well-written story with complex characters and lots of meaningful choices, and a level of polish and cinematic presentation that let me see the sweat and the sorrow on characters' faces in their darkest hours.

You can also turn on Karmic Dice, which Larian says, "helps smooth out the extremes of the bell curve [but] retains the core elements of RNG, ensuring a player can pelo longer be unlucky or super lucky with several dice rolls in a row."

Larian Studios' next game is sure to be one of the most anticipated ever following the breakout hit of Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3. What that game is remains to be seen, but Larian boss Swen Vincke has indicated he’s already worked out its Act 1 narrative.
